[It’s free, but it’s very beautiful! ] The tulip festival in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture was highly satisfying and profitable! When is the best time to see it? Can children enjoy it?

admission fee is low

This time, we have investigated the [Tulip Festival] in Sakura Furusato Square, which has become a popular event in the past few years!

What is the appeal of the Tulip Festival, which is very popular with young people and overseas tourists as a scenic spot?

Please take a look to the end!

700,000 tulips make you feel like you’re traveling to the Netherlands!

The “Tulip Festival” held every year in Sakura City, Chiba PrefectureEvents held in early ~ late April wide variety of tulips of about 100 species and 700,000 tulips bloom in the Sakura Furusato Square facing Inbanuma.

The variety of rich fragrance that can be seen only at the tulip festival, and the rare tulips such as changing colors and grouping are also highlights!

The venue was very crowded with events such as monkey wrestling and reverse bungee, as well as many food stalls and food trucks, and my 5-year-old child was also asking, “Which one to eat?” and “I want to see that store next!” He seemed to be enjoying it from beginning to end.

There is also a nursing space, a diaper changing table, a multipurpose toilet, and a shower room. It’s also nice to be able to visit with a baby with peace of mind.

Authentic Dutch windmills and tulips are the best place to take pictures!

The full-fledged Dutch windmill Liefde, which was born to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Sakura City.It is one of only three windmills in Japan that goes around in the wind, and it is “Japan’s first water-pumping windmill”!You can enter the windmill for free, so be sure to take a look inside when you visit!

Sakura City has been in contact with the Netherlands since the Edo period!

Since Corona, it has become a hot topic event at once!

I have been visiting this tulip festival for more than 20 years because Sakura is my hometown, but at first I didn’t have the impression that it was as crowded as it is now, and the visitors were elderly people or families.

The Tulip Festival was canceled in 2020 due to the influence of Corona, but when it was held again in 2021, it was spread on social media and TV, making it a popular event among young people and overseas tourists.

In addition, you can enjoy the collaboration between Keisei Electric Railway and Tulip at this tulip festival, so it seems to be popular with secretly photographers!

Tulips can also be taken home as souvenirs!

At the Tulip Festival, tulips are dug up for 600 yen (Saturdays and Sundays) 10 tulips and 600 yen (weekdays only) for 13 tulips. You can take the bulbs home with you, so you can repot them in a flower pot at home and enjoy them!

However, the next day after it rains, the ground will be muddy, so it is recommended to dig it up with rain shoes.

Kids are crazy about digging tulips too!

I will dig it after carefully examining which tulip to use~. There are 100 species, so it’s hard to decide which one to choose, but that time was very fun and a good memory.

It’s nice to be able to enjoy tulips at home!

There are many other events in Sakura Furusato Square!

In addition to tulips, you can also enjoy sunflowers and cosmos in Furusato Park, and sunflowers can be cut and taken home in the same way as tulips.

The Sakura Citizen Fireworks Festival, held every August, is crowded with many visitors, and in 2024, 20,000 fireworks + 70 fireworks will color the night sky of Sakura City.

  • Early ~ late April Tulip Festival
  • Mid July Windmill Sunflower Garden
  • First Saturday in August Sakura City Fireworks Festival
  • Beginning of October Cosmos Festival

If the timing is right, you can also enjoy the “collaboration between cherry blossoms and tulips”!

In 2024, I visited in the first week of April, and to my surprise, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom on this day, so I was able to enjoy both the cherry blossoms and the tulips. Please enjoy the flowers that can only be seen in Japan!
